My wife asked me to post this one. She's not a photographer, the IXUS 60 is her first ever camera.

This is Quarr Abbey, a Benedictine priory on the Isle of Wight, southern England, taken in June this year.

Did you buy her some diamonds and pearls on this place, hoping she'll buy you some photographic gems after ? Very Happy

Not diamonds and pearls but something smelly in a little bottle from here. Do you recognise it? Laughing

I had to buy her a whacking great big bottle of Balenciaga just to get her to agree to let me look at the camera shops! I didn't even buy anything, it was all far too expensive, but at least I got to handle an old Leica for the very first time! Smile

First time I see such a church.
Why all these saints' paintings outside ? (don't answer "why not" please... Laughing )
Where is it ?
Is it orthodox ?

Bonsoir, Olivier !
This is the Sucevita Monastery in northeastern part of Romania built in 1581 consecrated to the Assumption in 1584. The mural paintings were made in 1595-1596 .The paintings at Sucevita were best preserved both on the outside and on the inside. Thousands of pictures decorate the walls of the church; in fact they outnumber the pictures at any of the other monasteries. Yet, the Western Wall is blank. Legends say that the artist fell off the wall scaffolding and was killed, so it remained undecorated. Frescoes are painted in purple red and blue against an emerald green background. There is plenty of gold too taken from the art of miniature. They belong to Romanian masters of the Moldavian Painting School - Ioan the Painter and his brother Sofronie from Suceava. They have a strongly narrative character and many of them represent scenes taken from the daily life of the 16th century Moldavia,or ilustrate the holy bible .

This is a UNESCO world heritage monument , along with the other 7 painted moldavian churches. (Voronet, Humor,Rasca,Moldovita,Probota,Parhauti,Arbore). They are masterpieces of the byzantyne art and you are right ,you can't see anything like this anywhere.

And I would add two vaults : the first , in Prague , Vladislav Hall (in Hradchany - the Royal Palace) built in 1493 during the reign of King Vladislav Jagello ; 60m long 12m high, late gothic with renaissence elements. They did horseback jousts here .

The second : in Romania , the painted moldavian vaults in Voronet Monastery , an orthodox church built in 1488 . The church is famous for its frescoes and the "Voronet blue" wich resisted 500 years on the outside walls .They didn't discovered the formula until today.

Hello, again ,Olivier !
I am a medical doctor working as a family doctor and acupuncture specialist so that's a link to the yin and yang Wink But I should add to my interests list the architecture, art and history.I was tempted by all of these.
But, in the end , it seems I have no chance of being a second (not even a third ) Leonardo Laughing
