I can heartily recommend the Zeiss 2.8/21, if that's wide enough for you. |
this is really awesome lens. my ultimate zeiss wishlist. but is close to 2k usd..... |
I got my ZF.2 version second hand in excellent condition for a price I couldn't pass up (much less than $2k). The resolution and contrast are simply astounding, and it has extremely low CA. Worth every penny IMO. |

I know it's a new lens, but has anyone tried the Samyang 14/2.8 yet? And if so, is there anything available for similar money that is better? The caveat to that being, it should be fairly easy to stick on the end of my 400D. |
I have not tried it, but it seems to be an awesome lens for the money. Whether it's better than others will depend entirely on your needs. It has amazing resolution, but some pretty extreme distortion and of course won't take filters (apart from that huge monstrosity that Samyang have come up with, which really isn't an option IMO). I could see myself using it for indoor shots. |

I will be using it Underground, so Filters are not important. There are easy enough ways to pull the distortion out in Photoshop/DXO/other programs.
I'm more worried about dinging that huge front element. I'm pretty much set on getting it, and unless someone who *owns* it comes out and says it's a bad idea, then I'll probably get one in a couple of months, depending on my Xmas bonus from work. _________________ Too many to list. |

It's always worth using the search facility first
http://forum.mflenses.com/samyang-14mm-on-tour-t42795,highlight,%2Bsamyang+%2B14mm.html
Processed versions can be found here:

It's a great lens, some definite distortion but sharp from f2.8 on full frame _________________ Graham - Moderator

I did... but nothing came up. I'm not familiar with the search this Board software uses though, so I probably cocked it up.

No probs, sometimes it's even easier to search google with a site:mflenses.com tag... _________________ Graham - Moderator
