Nice shot Jes, I have not seen the moon for ages. It's been rainy and very dull over here during the last few weeks. It's also not that cold in NL, where's winter???

Thanks!.

I tried it many times in the past, this is the first time I get some sharpness around the terminator line, but far from what people gets with a telescope and a compact camera or even a webcam... A bit frustrating Sad

There's purple fringing... Laughing Laughing Laughing
Sorry...
It's really impressive. Shocked
I saw these combos in birds photography with Leica or Swaroski monoculars. These monoculars are very expensive.
I don't know about telescopes.

Thank you Phil. It's the same name as in frenck as we call it a "Paon du Jour". Smile

Of course, a good long focal length telescope on a tracking mount will be better at moon and planetary shots, since that's exactly what they're designed for. I've taken shots of Jupiter with an old Nikon 800mm f/5.6 telephoto (at f/8.) and also a small 8-inch SCT telescope at 4000mm f/20. The telephoto shot isn't even in the same ballpark as the telescope shots, and my Jupiter shots with the telescope are quite mediocre compared to most.

Different planetary imaging technique comes into play, too. With the telephoto shot, I was using a canon DSLR, and stacked just 50 out of 64 images. With the telescope, I used a specialized planetary video camera, a 685nm IR filter (to steady the seeing), and stacked up to 2500 frames out of 10000 total (called "lucky imaging", to get around bad seeing conditions).

Maybe the old Nikkor 2000mm f/11 super-telephoto combined with a tracking mount and modern planetary imaging techniques would equal my 8-inch scope?l
