Hi folks

Now, this isn't an MF lens, but I figure it's okay to post it here as I will be using it manually anyways - what point is there having AF on a 17mm lens - dof is massive!

This is by far the most expensive lens I have bought - 74ukp in little used condition, it is in Canon EF fit, for use on my EOS and NEX.

The seller posted this sample pic:

Looks pretty good to me, I will mostly be using this lens for landscape/scenery work.

Anyone got any experience of this lens or the earlier 17mm MF Tokina (which I think is optically the same)?

The most expensive lens you have bought, perhaps, but still a bargain at this price! Congratulations!

Thanks Lucis.

The most expensive purchases before this were a Tair-3C at 36ukp, a Meyer Primagon 4.5/35 at 33ukp, a Yashica ML 2.8/35 at 24ukp and a Panagor/Kiron 2/35 at 22ukp.

Everything else was a cheapie, most below 10ukp.

One absolute steal of a bargain just arrived today - a well used but still working (needs mirror damper and seals renewing though) Yashica FX-3 with an excellent condition ML 2/50 and a mint (looks unused!) ML 2.8/28 for the incredible sum of 8ukp, just been out trying the 2.8/28 and even wide open it's very sharp. I'm collecting Yashica ML lenses, only have the 28, 35 and 50 so far. The FX-3 is supposed to be a great camera and will replace my Contax 139Q that needs servicing to return it to working order. I have a set of Tokina zooms in C/Y mount and several Hoya lenses in C/Y mount too, all of them pretty good, I'm pretty much rationalising my lens colelction down to these C/Y mouts and my Meyer/Pentacon and Russian lenses as most of the other stuff I have doesn't satisfy me IQ-wise.

Lens arrived and I like it a lot, very well built. This should probably be moved to the AF section (if a mod would be so kind).

I snapped a few samples, seems to be pretty sharp with little CA and lovely colours, flares when the sun is just out of frame but contrast in better lighting is good. There is some visible distortion but not enough to be a problem. I like this lens a lot, it's going to get a lot of use methinks.
