As I didn't have anything else, I place my bare hand on top of the lens, to provide some shade whilst I took the second shot:
Both pictures with the same exact conditions: ISO100, 1/30s, f/5.6 using the Minolta AF 50mm 1.7 on the Sony A700.
I'll never go out again without a set of sunshades....

right, the difference is stricking, the spider net so much sharper on the second ( personal preferance, my linking of flare effects is another thing )
