Tenerife with an MF quartet (pic heavy)

So, I was fortunate enough to spend Christmas and New year's out in Tenerife rather than suffer the cold and Christmas TV Smile

For the first time, I decided to shoot entirely MF (last year for a similar holiday I had an Oly E-420 with 14-42 and 40-150 kit lenses.) My weapons of choice for the trip were a Helios 44m-4 with a Siocore focal reducer (making it something like a 42mm 1.4), a Samyang 85mm 1.4, a Vivitar 90mm macro (the Komine one, not the Series 1) and a Canon FD 135mm 2.5, all paired with my Panasonic G6.

Except for the Samyang, it was about the first time I've used these lenses in anger, so to speak (not taking test shots of things around the house!) Thoughts were that the Helios is great, though soft wide open, especially towards the corners (not sure how much is down to the focal reducer though.) The Vivitar is a lovely macro lens, even though it's far less regarded than the Series 1. Handholding at 1:1 is fine, and the weight advantage over the S1 in a travel situation is definitely worth considering. The Canon is a solid performer too, though the sharpness means that it's very obvious when focus is out by even a tiny amount. Focus peaking helps a lot, though my eyes aren't what they used to be (I'm 24, but have a lens prescription of -9.00!) The Samyang, as expected, was excellent.
