What a surprise!
The Takumar 2.8/105 arrived today. And since the seller was clever enough to put the details in an envelope outside the package our mail service (DHL) was able to arrange for the customs.

This is it:

Without hood...

With hood...

On the Spotmatic...

(Sorry about the quality of the pics. Those were shots with a digital compact.)

The lens is mint, yes, you really could say "new". No dent, no scratch, no haze - nothing! Almost spooky!

And I like it. It looks gorgeous! The first pics are shot, they are in Camera Raw at the moment. Wink

More later...

This is a nice sharp lens, it surprised me too when I saw the first time.

I have had it only since Tuesday. Wink

Well, the thing is that I do not find the time to really shoot at the moment. Sad
Hopefully things will change in some days.

this lens gets very good critics.
Today I found one in a local store in Manila, quite good condition, original caps, original case in less good condition. After haggling I am at just below 40 Euro.
This very lens is on my shopping list, so I wonder if I should go back tomorrow and get it. However I actually had been thinking to better hunt japanese lenses in Japan, I shall arrive in less than a month in Osaka where I will have a few months time and hope to have a big selection of japanese lenses at hopefully low prices. What do you think?

€ 40 is a very good price for it (if it is in good condition), since it is a very nice lens.
I am sure you will find excellent lenses in Japan! Japan must be some kind of dream country for us MF lens fans. I have heard about several fantastic deals: lenses in great condition for little money!

Yes, in some way, I envy you. Wink

If it is so that Japan is a very good source for MF lenses I may pass this 105...
I have bought various gear ( not MF lenses ) used in Japan over these last few years, and have had very good experience. Second hand items are often as much as unused and sellers of used gear usually describe any small defect in detail.
Don't envy me, but if If you have a special wish and a price target on it PM me and shall see what I can do. My friend there will not be too happy having to help me to do online shopping, but I won't give her a choice...Wink

Japan seems to have many MF shooters, too bad none have joined this forum. Maybe english is difficult language for them Confused

There are so many japanese photography blogs, here for example http://mahito.blog2.fc2.com/blog-category-13.html scroll down and try some of those links.

Thanks a lot for the nice offer. But I do not have a particular wish at the moment (after the 40D Wink)
