The Mamiya Sekor 50mm/2 lenses are very sharp. The older ones have an auto-manual aperture switch (like that of Super Takumar lenses).

Any pics from the Mamiya f2?

I have several 50-55s and zebra Pancolar 50/1.8 is the sharpest @ 1.8.

The Sears should be a Mamiya Sekor

I suppose we would need to see the lens to be sure, but it could also be a Tomioka. I have a 55mm f1.4 labelled "Sears" that came on a T L S ($9.95 in an antique store), and I'm pretty sure it is a Tomioka.

I got my SMC Takumar 55/1.8 today, and after cleaning some fungus, I have to say I might have found what I was looking for: a few of quick shots showed nice color rendition and out of focus areas, and good sharpness (which will probably improve once I manage to remove the streaks and smudges I left on the inside elements).

I will still look for a Pancolar, but I'm in no hurry now and will probably wait for my meager funds to replenish. Smile

Congrats, SMC Tak is a keeper. Mike
