I'm stumped on this mount and would welcome your thoughts.

Also, does anyone think there's a chance for a hidden T2 mount under there somewhere? To me it looks like WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get), but I've been wrong countless times before:

It certainly looks like something is missing.Do you have any more details on what the lens is?

if I go by what is written on my T2 adapters it's just "made in Japan" yours says "lens made in Japan" so I would say that there is no adapter attached and its just the lens, also the length of the inner tube by the section that looks like an adaptor is too long to be a m42 adapter.

but this doesn't mean it isn't a T2 lens but I can't really tell if there is threading.

I'm pretty sure this is a canon breech lock mount, the lens is perhaps a pre-set 135mm or 200mm I have taken a photo of the Canon breech lock mount from a similar position and it looks very similar.

The rectangular baffle in the lens shows there's nothing missing. Its a long focus lens. The aperture lever is in the right position to be canon too, that would make the right side of the lens the top. I'm absolutely sure its an old preset lens for FD. Which? I don't know.

Agree with the above. Immediately looks like a broken Canon FD/FL mount.

I'm very grateful for all of your responses. Many thanks to each of you!

Well, guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag. I apologize this is likely to help only Americans, because it's a USA auction and shipping abroad, while apparently available, will no doubt be cost prohibitive. Heck, even USA shipping is over US$20!

I really wanted to acquire a Noritar lens before I pass on, even a "down and dying" old catastrophe like this lens. It's really in poor shape, showing a lot of abuse. But it is a Noritar and might go cheap and be (somehow - but don't ask me how) restorable and usable. Even if only serving as a paperweight, any Noritar brings class to one's lens collection. Also, agreeing with you, I simply do not see any likelihood of a T-mount thread under all that mess. So have at it. I hope this amuses someone:

That lens is pretty war weary, and $20 shipping is excessive.

You are being overly generous regarding the condition of the lens. It's a lot worse than "war weary" IMHO. And the shipping is ridiculous.

However

What we agree upon does not matter one whit. The bid has more than tripled within the last 24 hours regardless. And the prime bidder is a highly recognizable lens whale. He (or she) is a very sharp cookie who had bid before I ever publicized the lens here.

This is an interesting case study. It's a lens of impeccable breeding and quality, but in terrible shape and even (apparently) missing some parts. Still, I would guess that in pristine condition that lens might easily bring between US$500 and US$1000. Even now I envy the eventual winner. It'll probably be the whale. Crying or Very sad

That looks like a lens for the Norita 66, Graflex Norita, Rittreck 6x6 and Warner 66 medium format SLR cameras from the 1970s. Here's a shorter one we sold a while ago with more pictures of the mount to compare:

There are no commercial adapters that we're aware of to use Norita 66 lenses on any other cameras, though DIY types are possible!

Thank you for your excellent post, prior to which:

It never even occurred to me the lens could be other than one intended for 35mm cameras.

But I agree with what you wrote.

With lenses, there is never, ever, a dull moment!! Wink

You're welcome. There were some Noritars for 35mm including a 135mm f/1.4(!), and a 17mm f/4:
