Well, I felt like a DIY project in converting the Yashica Lynx 14's superb rangefinder lens for micro4/3 or NEX. The first problem is that even before I pulled the lens off, I noticed that the battery had entirely corroded and had penetrated behind the lens and mount. The lens could not be focused at all and was stuck at 8 feet. I didn't want to force the lens and break it so I proceeded to rip open the Lynx.

The lens focus wheel now spins freely but -physically- nothing is happening when I turn the focus (i.e., the lens is not getting longer or shorter). Is there something I'm missing here? Is something still stuck?

BTW, I'm going off of this tutorial but I haven't been able to open the back ring of the lens (I need some better tools to be able to grip onto it):
