A couple of things one must keep in mind with projector lenses, in addition to being optimized for distance, most are uncoated or single coated and will lack contrast as a result, in addition frequently the interiors are not flocked. I got a Kowa 150mm that improved dramatically by adding stick on felt flocking to the inside.
Like this stuff:

I use it on inferior Chinese lens adapters to good benefit as well.

Fashion a lens hood as well for best results.

As for the lens versions, in this ebay listing the seller (with whom I have no affiliation) clarifies about two variants, a slightly smaller one intended for 35mm projectors and the larger one for 6x6cm slides.

I have the larger version.

They are entirely different lenses, with the same name! The big version has an image circle covering medium format, and seems to be more common.

There is a 'little version' of the Color-Agolon 90/2.5, and it's something of a sleeper: slightly sharper than the 90/2.5 and with a similar rendering style. The 60mm Color-Agolar also covers medium format (so 36x24mm + movements) and has a usefully long focal-flange distance for a lens this short.

What marks out both these lenses as uncommon is relatively even performance across the frame (especially the 60/2.EIGHT), lovely, clean bokeh fore and aft, minimal chromatic aberration and smooth focus transition and tonality: to me, the contrast is just right - delicate, natural and easily perked in post if you want bolder rendition. I also like the low levels of mechanical vignetting (esepcially the 60/2.8 with its compact length and big image circle) that keep bokeh balls fairly circular. No swirl, no attention-grabbing 'character' here: but definitely some style.

Thank you for the useful info. Your samples from the 60mm Color-Agolar look indeed very good.

As for the "big" Color-Agolon, I like the subtle rendering it gives.
