Using on nex5n.
Slightly added black level at f1.2 and f1.4.
Defringles edges at f1.2
At f2.0 and smaller, not really need PP, but I may have a click here and there
#1 at f5.6
#2 at f5.6 - A TV reporter interviewing people walking by.
#3 at f1.2 - An employee of the bookstore, standing and holding local ad sign. Due to f1.2 focus that took a bit longer time, she was aware that I took photo of her. Without saying, I waited few more seconds to let her fix the hair. Dark coat and backlit is not the best sample of f1.2.
#4 at f1.4 - Street performer
#5 at f1.2 - Street performer, backlit, but I waited for the cloud to give a little shade.
#6 at f2.0 - Street performer, backlit, also try to wait for good light and someone walked by to illustrate the blurriness of different distances.
#7 at f1.8 - Another photographer standing near by.
#8 at f2.0 - These ladies were waiting for someone and listened to the street performer.
#9 at f2.0 - Photographers - Canon and Nikon totally dominate local market.
#10 at f1.2 - Police on horse, as 'peaceful-political-demonstration' was going on. Many people not sure what other mean about 'peaceful', better be sure.
#11 at f1.8 - Police visible in tourist areas.
#12 at f1.4 - Some politician during an interview.
#13 at f1.2 - Back to a quiet street, as good as Planar 1.4/85 I think.
#14 at f1.2 - The scene is almost B&W, but the balloon. Also the subject is shiny in relatively dark background. It turns out that PF had been controlled very well in focus areas.

You are right Tony. At portrait distance, f2 color rending is neutral and very good contrast. At f1.4, a minor increase in black level will make it looks like the Planar 1.4/85. At f1.2, is has PF/CA in high light edges and in OOF areas - that because I shot in daylight/sunny conditions. In doors, it delivers far more better images at f1.2. Viewing at web resolution, I need f1.4 or f1.2 to isolate the subject.
85mm is often wide enough for street scenes. IMO, this focal is very good for street shots: no too far, no too close.

Suat, Actually not. I am not staying long enough to listen to the story. This is just a weekend walk with my kids in down town. There was a political demonstration, and many parallell activities. I updated with text in each photo.

Thanks Bill. I am not a fan of canon either, nor any brand, but I have to admit I am still dreaming about the Planar T* 1.2/85.

Thanks alot. Me too, #4 has good light. Reminds me about the Planar 1.4/85 from Tony. I like #9 as well. _________________ La migliore cura di LBA imparare una nuova lingua. Le meilleur remde de LBA est d'apprendre une nouvelle langue. La mejor cura del LBA es aprender una nueva lengua. |
