If you were shooting at another angle, how did you focus with this? Prefocus and continuous shot?

Prefocused and timed. At sunrise the camera started shooting every second until the card was full. Really no other way to do it, since takeoff isn't at an exact time like a rocket launch, and doesn't provide enough sound for a trigger until it's too late.

May i ask why is there a fan above the lens?

The fan was for defogging, which didn't really end up being needed. Fogged up lenses are a common problem around dawn, but on that morning there was none.
