Somebody here may have that camera, but you might get a quicker answer here:

I have an A7 which I can preview live on an external monitor (if that is what you mean by tether), but I have not come across the issue with the C3 button. Does Sony have a helpline where you are ? |

The a7ii live view is meager at best in my experience. That is the only area where my Eos 60D was superior. With the eos tethered you could get images on your laptop or tablet that matched the screen on the camera as far as focus, wb etc. (what you see is what you get). The a7ii connects wirelessly to my android but the image is fuzzy response is slow. Also the number and types of adjustments available via chainfire "DSLR controller" app was way better. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

found a program for my sony a7r mark ii . the images even when the focus is prefect. come out slightly blurred. when i use the little screen on the rear of the camera. use my mouse just to control the shutter the images are much better. I will post one so you can see I would not recommend that control pro to anyone. there is no doubt this camera takes sharp images. I am going to try the hdmi out on the camera and fire the camera with a remote control. think this might work for me have a great one _________________ Rockycarter |

Are you using the focus magnification? You can do up to ~12x magnified to check focus. I have the focus magnify set to the C1 button (on the A7ii). It also has focus peaking which helps as well. Shouldn't be an issue to get infocus shots.
You can't rotate the screen in Capture One when tethered and working in portrait mode, but there are kludge workarounds. If you have multiple monitors, set one to be rotated and view the liveview preview in that. There are other alternatives too if you are on a Mac.
The A7rII has one of the best sensors available today and it's output is stellar, I wouldn't be so quick to just return it. I'm also not sure if any other cameras support rotation in Capture One either. The PhaseOne cameras may. _________________ In my bag: Sony A7II - Olympus OM 21mm f/3.5 - Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm f/2.0 - Konica Hexanon 57mm f/1.2 AR - Olympus Zuiko OM 100mm f/2.8 - Pentax 135mm f/3.5 |

Sony offers the Remote Camera Control app via USB for PC,

If you don't use a remote, then I'd set the shutter for 2 second delay to reduce camera shake. _________________ "The eyes are useless when the mind is blind."

the more images I take the easier it gets with this camera. I am amazed at how easy it is to use this camera. set it in p mode shoot coins all day long. this camera out shoots the Canon and Nikon that I owned. here is a couple images of coins shot through plastic. the Nikon and canon you had to add a lot of light to get coin images. with this Sony I have to shade the coins unbelievable. keep in mind shot these through cellophane. loose plastic excellent
