Quite a difference in scanning slide film like Velvia versus print film like
Reala. Shocked

This image is not the way I want it, but it's MILES better than the fiasco
that I showed the forum from a scan of expired Kodak film last year. I plan
to get back to this falls (Willaby Creek) this Spring again, and hopefully
won't have sun spilling in to almost blow the water out completely. Confused
Even though the histogram shows it as okay, I still don't like the
seemingly blown-out upper splash pool.

The ferns were moving in the wind, so I hope to also visit on a windless
day as well. THAT might be a tall order. Laughing

Velvia

This is a re-scan of an earlier attempt that just wasn't showing much
good color. With better scanning equipment now, it looks a bit better.
One of my favorite spots. A brush crash to get up to, very very
steep hillside, but the sweat is worth it, at least to me. I spent some
time in the crook of the tree at the upper portion of the image. It was
a nice place to relax and look into the pool.

And finally, a totally different shot with totally different film. This is with
Reala color negative film. The scanning work is harder to get right, but
this one came out pretty close. Almost looks like a print one would get
from 160NC. Next time I'll attach a polarizer.

I really, really like these Larry. Especially the first two. The colors are VERY pleasing. You have a wonderful way of seeing things.

One thing that really helped was that we now have GoogleEarth to help
out in finding areas where there might be scenic possibilities. It helped
a lot in finding the area of the first image, as well as the Topo program.

Thanks as always, Ron. By the way, I was wondering...do you still have
the nice Schauzer? I have said this before, but I call them Professor Dogs.

No need to say anything, shauttra, just keep pushing for Spring! It will come to us soon, hopefully! Very Happy

Yes we sure do have my buddy Maxwell. Funny thing, they were bred to be medium size guard dogs and males are known to be aggressive but Maxwell is the mildest, most gentle dog I have ever had and I've had dogs all my life. Thanks for asking.

Well, give Professor Maxwell (Smart?) a cookie from me. I have a soft
spot for dogs, and semi-soft spot for cats. Very Happy

Very nice results Laurence! The wind moving the leaves too much in photo 1 is a pity indeed, but the colours and the great composition (of all three pictures) makes everything o.k. for me.
