I think this will be the best "walk around" lens for the SD1 camera and the other camera with crop sensor.

Interesting optical design. I a little curious about wide-open IQ

Why would anyone need 1.8 on an ultrawide lens? You'd be shooting stopped down for depth of field with an ultrawide so I just don't see the point. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

I think faster ultrawide will have the benefit on AF speed than slower one when use in low light environment though it may not be much faster.
There is another thread on the Autofocus Corner so I think we may discuss there.

Should be an interesting lens with the f1.8 aperture. It is available in Sigma, Nikon and Canon mount. Not that I need one, but I think it will sell because of the f1.8. _________________

It's not an ultra-wide.
This is a standard zoom designed for APS-C only. It's pretty much a 28-50mm in 35mm terms. _________________

A Korean website posted a whole bunch of samples from a pre-production model. I am not super impressed with the image quality wide open, but... it is really a great walk around lens length.
