Hi
I have an Hasselblad X2D. Hasselblad does not have proper tilt-shift lenses, that is why I was thinking of a solution like this:
Mamiya 645 wide-angle lens
Shift Adapter Mamiya 645 -> Hasselblad X mount
First of all: What do you think? Can it work?
Which Mamiya wide-angle lens would you recommend? I do not know the this system, but judging by pictures I have see on line, I like the Mamiya 55mm f2.8, but the 45mm also seems very good.
Thanks a lot in advance _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/149089857@N03/ |

There is a Mamiya 645 50mm f4 Sekor Shift C if 50mm is wide enough for you. _________________ The best lens is the one you have with you.

What do you want to do with the Hasselblad + Shift lens combination? Printing large prints? Books? Just play around ...?
Image circle of the shifted image? >90°? >76°?
Important questions, TBH.

I'd like to take pictures with straight lines, I hate to do this in post. Mainly for architectural photography. The Hasselblad X2d has 100Mp, I do not think printing large should be a problem, but it is not my priority now.

I don't have a camera with 33x44mm sensor, but I have tested my Mamyia Sekor C lenses on
1) a 50 MF Fuji GFX
2) a A7RII (43 MP FF) using a Zörk shift adaper to simulate a 36 x 54mm sensor (ca 8000 x 12000 px = 100 MP images)
While there was nothing wrong with many Sekor C lenses such as the C 4/80mm Macro, the A 4/120mm Macro, the C 4.5/145 SoftFocus, the C 3.5/150, the C 4/210 and the C/CN 5.6/300, I didn't really like the two computations of the 2.8/45mm (including the N), let alone the C 3.5/35mm, especially on the simulated "100 MP camera". Sticking three images taken without shifting and with an ordinary "35mm" (="Kleinbild") lens would give better results ...
I've never used the Sekor C 50mm Shift lens, but it's said to be pretty good - so I assume that this lens would be better for shifting on a 33x44mm sensor (compared to the Sekor C 2.8/45).
I would suggest to use an adapter (eg Techart) and the modern Canon EF Shift lenses (17mm, 24, 45mm, ...).
They certainly are quite a bit better than the old Mamiya Sekor C wideangles ...

The Pentax 645 35mm. lens was considered to be the best 35mm. in the film era medium format.
There are 2 variants of this lens, a mf 35mm f/3.5 and a newer af 35mm f/2.8. The older 35mm f/3.5 seams to be the better one.
I have one adapted as a shift lens for my ff Sony and it tested better in all regards than my Oly 35mm shift lens. That's why I sold the Oly. However, adapting it to Sony as a shift lens wasn't easy.
If you can adapt it as a shift lens I think it would be the best option you could have for a wide shift lens if the image circle of the 645 format will be enough for you.

The "N" computation is not so bad, however in no way perfect of course

Fotodiox do a Tilt Rocr adapter. I do not if one fits your XD, but you may find one which leads to a suitable adaptable lens. |
