its relentlessly monochromatic here in the northeast u.s., but yesterday, the sky was blue as the carribean, the sun was bright and casting lovely shadows over our many shades of white. i took out the 5d and tamron sp 28-80mm and the following was the result. PLEASE CLICK ON EACH FOR BEST RESOLUTION. thanks for looking!

a 100% crop:

and of course, for even more monochrome, my girl athena:

The dog is special, but three good shots. What's a reb doing in upstate NY? I hope this next storm misses you

Tony, these shots are excellent! Especially the last one, what a beautiful mutt Surprised

Looks like you've really got to grips with the 5D and necessary settings to shoot sharp shots Smile Nice one Cool

thanks guys! i am constantly surprised at the resolution, contrast and color of this very inexpensive lens. all except dog shot at f8, dog at 5.6. i do notice the lens performs much better in bright sunlight; it seems like a different animal on a gray day.

@patrick: not really a reb; was a city yankee for almost 40 years, then 'seceded' to the mountains for a rural life. plus rebel yell has always been my house bourbon! Very Happy

It has been monochromatic here for three months now.
I like your crisp images.
The first one and of course the dog.

White dogs seem to be better from a photographic viewpoint. Our black lab combined with snow is quite a challange to capture.

thanks sven--havent heard from you in a while, hope everything is going well. i know how monotonous the constant cold, gray etc can be. as for you, for us it starts sometimes in november and doesnt end until late march...oh well, makes us appreciate the colors of spring all the more, no?

Everthing is well, thanks for asking!
From a photo point of view it has been a period with lack of inspiration and ideas. A bit of sunlight wouldn't hurt either.
Our winter season normally is a bit shorter, but this year I suspect we will have a late spring.
