Got this lens in preparation for the Pentax FF.
The price was just too good to pass.

I impressed by what this cheap lens can do.
Sharp all the way to the corners at f8.

The downside is the distortion and the bulging front element which needs a big clunky filter solution.

There is no light without shadow. Wink

A good question. I am intersted by this lens but I would like to have a FF distortion correction in LR5. Is there a solution ?

I think Rockwell had a faulty lens for his review (and I'm a fan of Rockwell, not dogging him just because).
For the price, it's a great piece of glass.

No, they are not corrected.

Very impressive. This lens is definitely on my 'to get' list, and the above photos just further demonstrate why this is.

You re welcome, as you know distorsion is much dependable on the subject, it can be "horrible" to almost non existent, i need to shoot more with mine.

Hmm that possibly could be it then. The way your photos looked made it look like they were corrected.

From what I 've read about this lens is that there's a terrible cause of poor quality control. Some are super awesome sharp, with less distortion. Some are just plain terrible. But at these prices, no one can really complain.

Thats my reason for not owning one: I see pictures and think to myself that I really like it, but I've also heard of a lot of unhappy owners so have always held off.

Yeah, I've heard the QC is all over the place.
I got mine from a dedicated cityscape/landscape shooter who I know and he was selling it only because he had moved away from Pentax. (This is the K mount one)
So in a way, I knew his copy was a good one.

Ah yes, subject sensitive to distortion (horizon, tree) are well corrected in this picture.
