I bought this lens to continue dabbling in star photography. It has some quirks in use -- one must be very careful with perspective on foreground objects, and of course no filters. But it seems fairly sharp wide open and not very heavy, which helped on this trip deep into the North Cascades. This is with a D610, ISO 6400, f2.8, 20 seconds. I didn't notice the crossing shooting stars until I got home and started looking back at the images.

Nice! I do not see much coma and it seems you got trailing stars! _________________ Lumens Pixel

Here's a daylight photo with the same lens. F8, 1/20th second, ISO 100. I see that the foreground is so close it's out of focus despite the depth of field provided by F8.
