Just a referential image.

Got this glass from a street seller for peanuts, any good?
I know its an enlarging lens, but ill try to shoot with it.
Has anyone tried that before?

Yor rodenstock was a very good enlarger lens. For some better than the schneider.

I don't know about the IQ used like a taker lens.

Don't forget that the original taker lenses form rodenstock were:

2,8/50 trynar (3 elements)

2,8/50 Ysarex (4 element)

1,9/50 Heligon (6 elements).

Enlarger lenses are quite useful, away from an enlarger.

My bad!!!!
It's not a Rodagon!!
It's a Rogonar-S, and it came with a large metal back.
Still good?

The Rogonar-S is a simpler (Tessar design), cheaper amateur lens, but Rodenstock enlarger lenses are all quite good as taking lenses for macro shooting either on bellows or attached to a focusing helicoid. I use the Apo Rodagons and are quite pleased with it. Here are some data and the lens design:
http://www.prograf.ru/rodenstock/enlarging_en.html#Rogonar-S

In my own personal experience I am not of the opinion that Rodenstock lenses are superior to Schneider enlarger lenses, in my opinion the difference is minimal and sometimes the Schneider ones are better (Apo Componon HM lenses are not really that bad, Componon-S 100mm is superb!), sometimes Rodenstock are (Apo Rodagon D for around 1x and 2x - the competing Schneider ones would the Symmars, wonderful lenses; Schneider has the M-Componons in 28/50/80mm made for much higher magnifications, as they were intended to replace the no longer made Zeiss Luminars - and there are no Rodenstock competitors to these)

Thanks. I suppose that the commentaries makers have another taste or be wrong. I have not personal opinion in schneider's enlarger lenses.

I was just referring to my personal experiences using Schneider and Rodenstock enlarger lenses. Rating lenses neutral is very difficult and quite often subjective, so we may have different point of view. Nothing personal, just all my simple own experience I wrote about.

If I want the best, I would use the Zeiss S-Orthoplanar or the Nikon Apo EL-Nikkor anyway, I have nothing found that beats them ... Wink
