After reading several suggestions, I bought a black light ultra-mini spiral bulb (13w) yesterday to remove the yellow color from my CZJ Pancolar 50/1.8 and it really works. Very Happy

How long did you use it on the lens?

19 hours.

Bathing under the UV light.

I bought a 13w fluorescent spiral bulb instead of a 6w tube as suggested. IMO, the bulb delivers more UV output to the lens than tube because of its round shape and higher watts. Very Happy

Quite astonishing since it is just long wave UV-A and not much power. I have a Mercury 100Watts UV-A/UV-B lamp with UV light guide that delivers 20.000 mWatts/cm² - that should work in minutes then....

P.S.: I have two 25Watts ETC 61032548 (guess the type number) black UV light lamps (E27 screw in for 230Volts). These should even shorten the curing time and should be readily available, Price is EUR15.50 here

kds315*- You should open up a lens curing business. Smile

53 hours. The lens is almost yellow-free - approx. 98%.

Hmm... I should see what I can find locally to treat some of the yellowing lenses I have, but then, since I use b/w most of the time it could well be a built-in yellow filter Laughing

I have never seen any of these UV light where I am from. Not sure if any of the light shops sell this type of specialise light. What is this type of light usually used for?

Black light is reasonably handling safe, but it had only a very slight effect on my thoriated Aero Ektars. A UV-C tube, as used for aquarium water sterilization, did completely clear them within four hours. Use outdoors in a light-tight, well-ventilated container only - UV C can cause permanent eye damage and will generate plenty of ozone.
