I found this little beauty at an estate sale a few weeks ago for about $20.
Near mint condition. At first the slow speeds were a bit sticky but a little
wiping of the blades with naptha cured that and the shutter has remained
in good working order since then.

The Vitomatic IIa has a nice rangefinder, a selenium meter with readout
visible on top and in viewfinder and shutter speeds to 1/500. Shutter
and aperture can be manually set despite the "-matic" in the name.

This one has the 2.8 Color-Skopar lens. Voigtlander also offered an option
of an f/2 Ultron lens (hard to find and pricey). Would love to find one.

This little camera weighs about 1.75 lbs which helps keep it steady when
shooting. It also has the shutter release button on top which I prefer.
Some models in this series have a sliding release on the front which
I find makes it more difficult to hold steady during release.

There were 3 body versions of this model that I know of. This is the 2nd
version. The first had a shutter to 1/300 and the 3rd had no strap lugs.
Otherwise they were the same as far as I know.

The camera is also finished beautifully, like a piece of jewelry. Smile

So nice!
Have fun shooting with it.

You have a little gem there - and for $20 - ! Did you get the case as well?

One of the nice little design points in that you can "inch" the wind-on lever, rather than using one long stroke. Handy for eye level shooting.

Those are so cute and heavy Smile

I bought two but neither works... something with the sprocket wheel / shutter linkage. I did manage to get one working but it stopped after three frames Sad

Yes, I did get a case with it. Very Happy

RE: the shutter and film advance

With this model the shutter release seems to have 2 stages to it.
First, the shutter fires and then pressing the release further unlocks the
advance mechanism so the film can be advanced to the next frame. If
your camera has advance trouble, that 2nd stage may be the problem.
That is, something is preventing the button from going down far enough
to release the advance lock. If so, this may be fairly simple to fix (in case
that might be of any help)

I used a voigtlander vitomatic like yours.

And with the skopar 2,8/50 too.

Very nice cam, little mechanical cam.

Skopar IQ? Near so-so at F2,8. Excelent from F/8 to 16. F/11-16 the favorite for me.

Congratulations!!!

Very good pics with her. Rino.

Oh, a beauty.

This color skopar is a very nice lens.

I have them too, 2.8 Skopar and 2.0 Ultron. A very good camera with a viewfinder that is wonderful bright and big. The color-skopar lens features best value for money. Resolution at ƒ/5.6 ist very good.
The Ultron has just arrived can’t wait to see the first pictures .--

Yes, I'd love to see how the Ultron performs.

Well, I have one too! Smile

It is one of my favourite cameras.

The metering is excellent (and no batteries required). What is more, by attaching a little piece of translucent material (supplied with the camera) to the two pegs on the light meter (slips on like lego), the meter becomes an "incident" lightmeter. (This little item is stored inside the upper lid of the camera case, held in place by some elastic...if its still there)

The sharpness and colour rendition of the lens is amazing -even if used in a zone-focusing mode, which is what I do (hyperfocal distance focusing).

Great fun and loads of personality.

BTW the lid of a Fujicolour canister makes a great lens-cap.

Very superior, these little things are powerful machines. Love that second shot, the transitions and tones are so delicious.

<--- by the way that is me in the vf of the Vitomatic

Yes, very nice pics. Thanks for posting!

That's the Ultron lens, I presume. Would love to find one with that lens.
They go for $300+ on eBay which is too high for me. I will have to wait
until I find one elsewhere.

Yes, the b/w picts come from the Ultron version.

Got mine for 63 EUR on fleabay. Be patient and you will be happy Wink

Nevertheless the 2.8/50 Skopar version is good too!

Congratulation for your voigtlander cams and lenses.

In the first pic with ultron, you can see the characteristic bokeh of voigtlander lenses.

In the RF and in the SRL lenses, the same style of bokeh. At the tree's folies I can see the Ultron, skopar and super-dinarex bokeh. Fantastic, isn' it?

Somewhere I have one Vito CLR with the skupoar X lens with fungus. I will try to clear it and use again.

Rino

Yes, I particularly like the bokeh in the café scene -- the couple in the upper
right corner, etc.

two more examples. one is out of focus - sorry - but you can see the bokeh, second is focussed on the eye, bokeh nice too.
