With an extra MC Rokkor-PG 58/1.2, the first of each pair is a whole scene by EOS_5D,
the second is 100% crop of its center area at all F1.2 on a tripod, developed without USM at all.

Canon FD 55/1.2 (FD mount, converted to EF mount)

Yashica ML 55/1.2 (C/Y mount)

PORST COLOR REFLEX MC AUTO 55/1.2 (K mount)

MC Rokkor-PG 58/1.2 (SR mount, converted to EF mount)

Zeiss Planar 55/1.2 (C/Y mount)

Do not take this seriously not good for your health. Very Happy Laughing

------- my personal observation -------
100% crops show clearly Planar 55/1.2 is sharpest among these F1.2 lenses, MTF graphs
do not tell how sharp the lens at its focal plane/point. I have over 100 normal range (45mm~60mm)
lenses, Planar 55/1.2 is the sharpest of all including some normal focal length macro lenses.
The closest to PL55/1.2 is Nikkor-O 55/1.2, unfortunately it cannot be used for a general photography.
---------------------------------------------

Enjoy for a little while. Cool

By the way the above object is "Hokusai" printed on a special silk cloth with lots of wrinkles,
this tiny wrinkle is called "chirimen" made by weaving of artificially knurled silk threads.

And the whole cloth from the above looks like this. This is an art work of
contemporary artist in japan, this face is self portrait by Hokusai himself
but colouring was done by the artist. The back ground is "red Mt. Fuji" also
originally made by Hokusai for a wood block print.

that's a nice test! well focused with clear difference between contenders
seems the Zeiss is definitely from another planet
the others are for all taste, between sharpness - bokeh - contrast
I would choice between porst & rokkor for second place
then canon & yashica

Great test again Koji !!

The planar 55/1,2 is sharper than SMC tak 1,8/50; Planar 1,7/50; SMC tak 1,4/50; Pancolar 1,4/50; Pancolar 1,8/50. . . . .?

Wow!!!

Why the Nikkor not for general use?

Regards, Rino.

Hi Rino,

Nikkor-O is a specially developed to copy CRT images so that
it can focus close range only and it is not flat field in order to
compensate CRT's convex surface. Also it has only Leica L-mount
thread without a helical for focus.

YES. But it may not be flat field, nor have greatest bokeh, nor easy to carry, worst of all it is too expensive today
to buy and enjoy it. Its colour rendition is superb, I would say it is out of this world indeed. Actually its colour is
not accurate to describe the real colour of things, it shows essence of colour in great purity in FILM. For dSLR its
colour rendition is not so apparent for eyes, it is greatly reduced unfortunately. This lens is for FILM lovers.

PS. I do not have SMC tak 1,8/50 so the above "YES" is for the rest. Very Happy

Thank you for providing these samples.

Which is the closest analog to the Tomioka Yashinon? Yashica or Porst?

Industrial oscilloscope-capture lenses are rather special-purpose. You can be forgiven for not being aware of it Smile
