Hi again, ain't a mount-expert really, but made some research on my own and if I got it right, most of 1935-45 fine EXA lenses (or at least those that cought my eye) will NOT be compatible via "normal" EXA to EOS adapter commonly sold on eBay?

The main difference I see is slightly different shape of three EXA screw "edges" or even the milimeter is different? Is there any other adapter or am I missing something important?

I'll demonstrate the problem on two tele lenses - one that I (nearly Smile ) bought and one I was offered to buy.

There is no meaningful difference between the prewar mount and the postwar mount.

I'm not sure why you put 6x6 in the title though, the Kine Exakta is a 35mm camera.

The hottest thing I'm interested to know is I mount that 180/6.3 Tele-Tessar (from link in code) OK on Canon EOS, and if so, under what circumstances.

The screw looks this way.

Hi Marek,

I'm not an expert on Exakta. I have a collection, but I only have seen some things, certainly not a good sample of everything. Other guys here know a lot more.

I never had a prewar Kine Exakta or prewar lens with that mount.

All I know is there has been only one change to the lens mount (on the camera), and that was in the early 1950's when the external flanges for large lenses were added. But this would not affect any ordinary lenses.

I don't think I have ever heard of a difference between the mounts of prewar-postwar lenses.

For old Exakta mount lenses, I only have experience with this era and brand of lens, http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Carl-Zeiss-Jena-Tessar-80mm-f2-8-T-Portrait-Lens-Exakta-Mount-/291343873579 which I believe to be post war, of which have no mounting issue on my E mount adapters.
Which adapter are you using? Mine are Fotodiox and Big_is

Interesting. I never noticed before.

If you have a problem with this fitting your adapter, I think you should be able to dremel or file the adapter flanges. It doesn't matter how wide these are, beyond the minimum to be structurally secure, as the lens movement is prevented by the stop pin and the latch pin.

No, no problem yet. Didnt get/buy those. I am afraid, actually. So, you guess it's basically worth the risk, as the chance to be compatible or compatible after a small improvement is relatively high?

I love those long silver CZ lenses. But not for stay purely in my vitrine! Would like to do some butteflies with.

If it doesn't fit, it should be easy to make it fit, by filing the adapter not the lens.
