I was curious to see a 500mm lens that is f5.9 instead of the usual f8 for preset t-mount lenses. The pic I saw shows a very soligor like lens but nameplate has access brand. Any info?
update 2022 - changed the title for search purposes. _________________ pentax ME super (retired)

I have also seen soligor-style t-preset lens on ebay, it was 500/4.5, sold for $86 or something like that. _________________ I have nothing to compensate with lens |

I spotted a couple of times a 400/5.9 preset that looked a lot like a 1960s Tokina.
Don't know if its the same as your find.
People often misstate details like focal length.
There were a bunch of makers of the time that had a very similar look. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

That's the one Luis, I only spotted the unusual f stop because the orientation of the pic showed the f's on the aperture ring. _________________ pentax ME super (retired)

Well I got the lens so will report back on it when it arrives. There were only two other bidders, one was the del boy of preset telephoto lenses on ebay, Mr lens.solutions watch out for him he's got himself a nice little number trying to corner the market in 400mm and 500mm lenses. Not impressed with him cos he's had 3 lenses off me 99p auctions spares/for parts lenses only for me to see them relisted at his usual 79.95.... _________________ pentax ME super (retired)

This is the lens. Click on pic 1 for full size.
Its an impressive one mechanically and structurally. 16 blade iris. Close focus of 5.5m is well ahead of many of its contemporaries. Looks like a 5 element design, I think I can see another element behind the front achromat judging from the reflections, and there is a rear doublet.
Unfortunately the latter is evidently susceptible to age related haze and the pics are "foggy" (and soft). _________________ pentax ME super (retired)

Sankor. There were three of these on ebay uk this week. It might be very good like the 2.5/105 and 3.5/135 or it might be mediocre like the 3.9/200 and 4.5/300. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Not sure what your search criteria were Ian - I don't see a single one for sale ebay UK (UK seller), or even worldwide. This one is the first I've seen in a couple of years of ebay lens purchasing. These seem to be uncommon. _________________ pentax ME super (retired)

Not uncommon at all, as I said, three were for sale this week. Sankor lenses are very common, they made them for over 20 brand names.
Here's one in Germany branded Accura:
