Interesting opinion, but I have a doubts about it: first of all the size of the lens is to small, second - the focal flange distance of the lens is about 30mm. But I will try to make a test shot with it on my A7II - to see how it sensitive to ir spectre. |

Isn't it a cine lens for some small format? The teeth in the focus ring are typical of cine lenses. The appendix in the diaphragm could be an ND filter for reducing light intensity without closing the aperture too much and so incurring diffraction problems. This trick was also used in the Canon VL video lenses for Hi-8 cameras. _________________ If raindrops were perfect lenses, the rainbow did not exist. |

Could you be more specific please?
According to the my knowledges about the night vision lenses - all of them have much longer focal flange distance (so its easily to use it on DSLR) and with color shots showing strong discoloration with huge chromatic aberrations, due to the extreme sensitivity in IR specter. With this lens colors looks natural, there is no extreme aberrations and focal flange distance is pretty small (good only for mirrorless and rangefinder cameras).
Besides, as far as I know, all of the night vision lenses have pretty long focal length, cause they are made for using from the big distance obviously. |

NV lenses come with all focal lengths and flange distances so you can't judge by those factors.
The results remind me of the JML 56mm lens that is often seen in a shutter, it was used with oscilloscope cameras. Isn't fully corrected for visible wavelengths, hence the poor performance. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

I'm quite sure it's lens for Tank night vision system like TVN-2 (ТВН-2).
I have a lens with such diaphragm, that came from TVN-2.

There are other night vision systems. According to you nickname, it looks like you are russian speaker(from ua?), so I can suggest you to check this link for more informations : http://warfiles.ru/show-33400-otechestvennye-tankovye-pribory-strelby-i-nablyudeniya.html
This is not cine lens. _________________ Pierre

Now I see, that it really seems to be a tank lens...Well, I think I still make a try to place it inside of the helicoid and make some more pictures, maybe it have some art potential)
