Soft and glowy wide open with an interesting bokeh.
Can be very sharp when closed down.
Renders beautifully as an out of focus impressionistic paintbrush.
Today is foul weather - very windy, overcast and cold.
Very hard to find subject matter that was not moving about.
Here we go anyway.

Thank you for the images!
This lens is in my equipment because of this bokeh, I love over corrected spherical aberration much. _________________ Camera modification, repair and DIY - some links to look through: http://www.4photos.de/camera-diy/index-en.html

I have one of these and it's one of my sharpest lenses - in the center. The corners are absurdly soft at wide apertures, but that's part of its charm I guess. |

Thank you for that insight.
I have been wondering about how to get the best out of this lens.
I am thinking of some portraits with it -

Nice ones Thomas.
Maybe the glowy at Portrait will not bode well for this lens. Higher apatures render nice sharp pics so I don't really know

Thanks Gavin.
Yes this lens is a work in progress for me. I am still learning how to use its peculiarities to advantage.
The difference in softness and glow from 1.8 to 2.8 is amazing. But it is the lovely softness and glow at 1.8 that are its appealing characteristics.
Lots of lovely CA as well
Here is one from this afternoon that shows some of it.
Point of focus is top right
