My question is:
which is better choice:
Pentax M 135mm f 3.5 and Pentax 200mm f / 4
or
Jupiter A 37 135mm and jupiter 21M 200mm
now I have a Pentax K10D + K100D
and I like more and more lenses manuals.
thanks |

Well I can't say anything about the jupiter.
But as a Pentax owner, you NEED to have the Super Takumar 150/4 and the SMC-M 200/4. Those two are fabulous. _________________ My homepage, all manual shots |

These lenses are very close each other . I have the four , and I find the J-37 more saturated , "harder" than the takumar 135 . The j-21 is a bit more sharp at full aperture but the smc-tak 200 is better at f/8 in contrast and saturation , the single-coated give comparable results .. . However , the differences are small...
Russian lenses give not the same general "rendition" than takumars . the four lenses perform very well ... If I had today to choose among these lenses , i'll buy the four again ! |

Depends on the type of shots you want and your taste?
The Pentax are much better. They have more resolution.
The Russian lenses are sharp when stopped down but still don't have great resolution. Many people like this it can be seen as a nice sharp smooth image. Very good for portraits etc.
The 135 and 200 Jupiters are fairly cheap. I have noticed the pentax lenses are going up and up, so I would buy SAP.
PS I have the Tamron Adaptall 2 f3.5 200mm as well as the Super Takumar f4 200mm. They are almost equal but I just prefer the Tamron. I sold my Pentax 135mm a while back as I never used it much. Nothing wrong with it and it is a neat sized lens. _________________ Pentax K10D & K100D. Many Tamron Adaptall SP lenses, Fujinon f4.5 400mm.
