I've been lurking for a while and enjoying your posts thoroughly. My favorite ones are lens and equipment porn so I've been meaning to produce some shots of my own. Smile

For my first try I decided to gather my standard lenses, as I was curious myself to explore their similarities and differences.

Sadly, I found out that making a good product shot like this takes a lot of patience, more lighting equipment than I have, and some creative skills that probably take a long time to aquire.

Side view:
Back row: Auto Tak 55/2.2, SMC-M 50/2, SMC-M 40/2.8
Front row: S-M-C Macro-Tak 50/4, SMC-A 50/1.4, S-M-C Tak 55/1.8, SMC Tak 55/2

The chrome rings came out a bit funny as they caught the light from my flash. It sort of makes the picture more visually interesting but less usefull as a documantary. Since the 40mm is so small, I had to cheat and put it ontop of an extra back cap in order to keep the front in the same plane of focus as the others.

Both shots were taken with my Samsung GX-1S and the SMC-M 100mm Macro and lit by a bounced AF400FTZ.

Nice start, you have some beautiful babies there Wink

Looking forward to see more tech stuff Very Happy

Presentation is good and sharp IMO, but I know those cheap light tents could be handy for product shots like this.

Welcome, and enjoy the forum

Welcome!
A nice introduction of your gear...I have used a chair with a white blanket in early morning or late sun for some of my past equipment shots. Laughing What ever works as you soon realize what you do and don't need..trial and error the best way to learn. Very Happy
look forward to some samples from those lenses!

Thank you for the encuraging replies!

I've been toying with the idea of shooting my battle-scarred black ME-Super with his siblings (MV/MG/MV/MV1/ME-F) as my next family photo. Maybe I'll have a look at some light tents before - they seem to improve the lighting a lot and can be had for little money on the internet.
