Maybe Nikantax?

This is kinda MF related...

What I want to know is why didn't any of you tell me earlier?

Exhibit A + B

Actually to be fair it probably was on here somewhere where I read about Nikon Glass in a Pentax PK Mount. Razz

This is exciting for 2 things. 1) Fast 35mm(ish) pentax glass is $$$ 2) fast 35mm(ish) Nikon glass is generally cheaper. (I'm looking at you per AI 35mm f2)

I've been wanting something faster then the 35mm f3.5 Super Taks I have here. Nikon to the rescue !

As you can see it was mounted more or less upside down, It went a smidge past infinity but pffff. Providing the lens doesn't poke to much in I reckon it'll be fine. Providing you have an aperture ring naturally. It didn't rotate completely, but more then enough for it to feel secure. Still, perhaps not whilst rock climbing. I gave it a good wiggle much to my mates disgust and it felt fine.

Anyway This has just opened a whole new section of ebay to me Laughing Laughing Laughing Embarassed Laughing

Yes, this is an old trick that was mentioned by someone at Pop Photo back in the 1970s just when PK came out. The guy said that Pentax had just copied Nikon so much so that you could mount Nikkors on Pentax. It might have been Keppler.

Well it's a ripper now I know it's ok Smile I think some Nikkors would keep the Taks happy after all.

looking at both the mounts side by side.. There certainly isn't much difference at all.

Didn't Rio Rico share a method of locking Nikon lenses on to Pentax? I seem to remember it just involved some slight grinding of the lens mount with a Dremel.

AF-S 35 1.8 DX on K30 pentax Smile. This is better than old 35mm 2.0 trust me.

Nikon F and pentax K bayonets are based on Contax. Nikon is a little smaller, pre-AI lenses fit even better. And you will be surprised how much pentax glasses are overrated!

oh, this is surprising. Well, certainly K and Nikon F mount must be very similar, but I have been thinking that Nikkors only mount on a later, modified version of the original K mount as is used on digital Pentax SLRs but not on the original K mount. The few Nikkors I have that do mount on my Pentax dSLR do not mount on my old K mount Pentax film bodies

I just tried some of the Nikkors I have at the moment - 85/1.8, 105/2.5, 135/2.8 - on my Pentax LX and they all fit fine, which is as I recall. IIRC when I had an ME Super Nikkors fit that too. I should dig out my SF10 to try.
They DONT go on a Ricoh KR5.
Its true the older lenses seem to work better. The pre-AI are less fussy. I have only one insurmountable problem mounting Nikon/Nikkors on Pentax DSLRs and that one is the Nikon E 75-150 as mine is too loose.

Luis you are right!
Since you wrote that you remember from time ago I should have understood. I have had a wrong impression then, must be that I was less determined when earlier I tried to mount my Nikkors on my analog Pentax bodies Wink
just checked and my Nikkor-NC Auto f2.8/24mm and Nikkor-S Auto f1.4/50mm do mount on my analog bodies too!
