Don't know how the glass inside will degrade the performance of the MF lens. In theory it will work, but wouldn't it be just easier to design a FF camera in a GF-1 or E-P1 footprint

I'm fairly sure the first Nikon/Kodak digital cameras (which used a reworked Nikon film body and a really small sensor, 2x crop or more) had a similar lens system inside to make the focal length the same, cancelling out the crop factor.
But then, patents don't seem to have to make sense, be original, or take any notice of prior art, it seems. They are just used as trading chips between companies.
