Hello, I've been playing with a copy of the 28mm f2 (not f2.Cool and found that it flares quite a bit when pointing into a light source. However, I am unsure whether this is a typical attribute of the lens. Does anyone use this lens, and if you do, have you noticed its tendency to flare? Thanks!

I don't know this lens, but such a fast wide angle can easily be prone to flare. Just use a decent hood and you should be fine... Wink

I have OM 2/28mm and noticed such flare as well at wide open.
After that, I compared it with Zeiss Distagon 2/28mm at the same apperture,
distagon shows me a little bit better.

Kind regards

I have this lens and love it. Use a hood and don't expect miracles. Flare has never been a problem. It may be a fast 28mm but that front glass is still Zuiko petite. Most lenses will flare to some degree if the light is too harsh.

Alright. I shall not be expecting miracles, then. haha. That is, expecting no flare when the subject is backlit. =p Yeah. A bit too used to the Zuiko Digitals to expect anything less. Bleh.

I like this lens (Zuiko 28/2), which has very nice colour rendering.
My 28/2 has the hood for 45 and 90mm for Fuji TX-1/2 camera
permanently attached using some taping to the lens first to hold
the hood tight. no glue. This hood was found in a bin at a used camera
shop in Toronto, was $5~6 and name Hasselblad on it for XPan.

For horizontal case, this hood is too wide. But for avoiding flare
it is almost perfect, since in the most of cases the problem comes
from the above. Of course directly pointing the lens to the light source
it wont help.

Nice one Koji
I have the stock hood and it seems pretty small actually.
I like the cone shape though. Cool
Lens shades are my favorite camera accessory.
The Contax hood system is just genius to me.
I have 3 sets Embarassed

http://www.rockcameras.com/L1130622.jpg I'm awaiting a hood something like this one. The original hood isn't half bad, but when you're using a cropped sensor, you can get away with crazier hoods without vignetting =p
