I recently inherited a bunch of Nikon Ais primes from my fater in law. unfortunetly, they all have a touch of fungus in them, and some have stiff focusing rings....
these include the 85mm 1.4, 24mm 2.8, 35mm f2, 50mm f1.4 and the 180mm ED f2.8.
can anyone recommend a place to get these fixed in australia that isnt ridiculously overpriced? obviously this cost varies on the lens, and amount of work needed etc.. can anyone recommend a place to get this done in australia?

are there service manual available to try and attempt this myself with the cheaper short primes?

kind regards.

Paul

G'day mate - heard this mob is pretty good. Never dealt with them, nor do I know their prices. Located here in Brisbane - http://f16cameraservice.com.au/

I use Ben at http://www.cameracheckpoint.com.au/index.html I would say his costs are reasonable, since I can't do the job. I am more than happy with his costs and service. You can always email him and he will give you a quote. There are probably a few more out there, you may want to use Google or try the Australian photography forum for more choices.

A few more knowledgable members may be able to help if you want to try it yourself.

out of everyone i have contacted so far, andersons, f16cameraservice, camerahouse, and a local fellow, costs were 165 minimum....to 3-400! Ben from camera check point has said, if its possible to do it... it would be 66-130 worst case scenario. pretty happy with that quote Smile thanks very much for passing his details along to me.
