Can I have some experience about this lens?

I know about the GN (guide number) copling.
I have serial and had been looked up available info. It's a first batch non ai.

What about handling, image quality, your thoughs, and price range?

Thanks.

A very good lens, but not a great one. Tiny, but looks good on the Nex 5N. I have the silver version which is quite neat looking. So small it is easily lost or overlooked.

Most people will not buy this lens because both AIS 1.8/50 "Pancake" and the Series E 1.8/50 are cheaper, sharper and faster.

The GN is a traitor lens since its focusing ring rotates the Canon way.

@patrickh. I did not realize that they made it in silver. You're sure its not a 45/2.8 P?

I tried one, thought it was superb, build quality is very impressive, it's like a metal hockey puck. Wink

Thanks for all your replies.
It won't fit on d800 unless I convert it to ai or do something...

Conversion kit is 25-35usd+shipping, but is it worth the work to convert?
Have any of you did the conversion? Can anyone explain me how the non-ai not fit into nikon dslr?
I have a non-ai 28 PC, but it has no coupling of any time and fits fine, even force fit on pentax bodies,
just 4mm turn, not clicking in, very unsafe to use as is on pentax bodies.

Would it fit with ai-ef adapter on 5dm2?

Given that this lens is not on your wish list nor mine, how much are you willing to get it?

I appreciate your 'value' opinions, and need to decide soon.
