Some quick and high ISO samples. (It's been heavily overcast here for a while again)



At 50mm and MFD-AF-Program mode at ISO 1600.
Some user error here with the metering set to tight spot.
Note visible spider web between the porcelain eagle's wings.



At 24mm and MFD auto everything here again at same ISO.
It wants to barrel distort a bit at 24 mm.



160% crop from center 50mm with the on board flash firing on the D-810. At program again.



220% crop from center 24mm with the on board flash firing on the D-810. At program again.

Probably have a little more on this once I can get into some proper lighting. What's shown here isn't much of an indicator of the capabilities of this lens.

At 24mm here. Flare is not as bad as I had been expecting, especially towards the sun.
ISO 400 and f10.1.



At 35mm here and f 7.9, ISO 400. It actually renders a bit here in the horizontal sun rays through a very dirty window, rather than the cold analytical look of the 50 1.8 D lens. 34-38mm seems to be about the sweet spot for it.
I think Sis will be happy with it, once she's worked with it a bit.
Personally, I find the aperture control to be a bit on the arbitrary side, with it's sometimes strange set values. Using the scroll wheel to set aperture in manual mode gets old awfully fast. I'm going to stick with my m/f glass for a bit yet...

Crisp! Seems to be a very capable lens.

What an unappetizing donut board. Is winter the main excuse for it?

That's what I thought about the ad as well. Looks more like something un-mentionable than a donut...
It may have something to do with the clearance pricing Wink
Their double chocolate classic donut is much more appealing to the eye.

Sister gets her lens today.
I think it may help get her away from the tiny sensor on her phone.
I'll probably have to give her a couple of run throughs with her camera- she'll probably opt for the rear screen instead of the v/f.
She has a much better photographic and artistic eye than I do.
ETA:

Lens performs admirably at -17 C.
