Let's hope a FF NEX is profitable for Sony and that makes Samsung produce a FF sensor, then there is competition and the price will come down. Canon have fallen a long way behind in sensor development, Sony are a far bigger company so have a lot more resources and money for development.
I got to play with an EOS-M this morning and it's like a fifth rate copy of a NEX, sensor is poor for 2013, dynamic range is poor, AA filter is too strong so lacks fine detail, no competition for Sony's 16MP sensor in the newer NEX's. So I don't see Canon offering any competition in the mirrorless market. Maybe Fuji will make a FF mirrorless? That wll be a very expensive camera though, I expect.

I've been keeping tabs on the various MILC rumors sites for a few months now. The FF "NEX 9" 's latest rumor appeared a couple weeks ago, so it's kind of fresh. Looks like we may see something in September or October, just in time for the Christmas rush. Can't say I'm really stoked about it mostly because of the price. I don't really see the wisdom in Sony coming out with another FF MILC in the $3k price range . . . oh, which is the other one? Why the NEX VG900, of course. OK, so it's a camcorder, so what? Look at its still camera specs and they're better in some ways that Canon's 5DIII. The VG900 can absolutely be used as a still camera -- even shoots in raw mode. 24 mp. 30 seconds to 1/8000 second, with a high burst rate. 2359k OLED viewfinder and an articulated LED screen. It has an E-mount, but comes with an A-mount adapter. When used with E lenses, it can even be set to an APS-C compatibility mode. Now isn't that clever. So it seems to me that an FF NEX 9 or whatever shouldn't be priced the same with more or less the same features. The VG900 is heavily optimized for video, obviously, so why not "detune" the NEX 9's video performance somewhat and sell it for less? Especially if it's gonna be using the same 24mp FF sensor. Hey if it's gonna be a new high-mp-count sensor like that 36mp Nikon, well then, that's different.
Probably at around this same time Sony will be announcing a replacement to the NEX 7, but reportedly it won't be called a "7N".
Also, Canon is rumored to be coming out with more than one new version of the M-series. Supposed to happen some time this summer. Well, here we are, halfway through the summer and no news yet. At least one of the new Canon Ms is supposed to be closer to a "prosumer" model, which is good news, I think. Canon still doesn't get the whole MILC thing, if you ask me. But hopefully they'll wake up before too much longer.
I'm still looking for one or more dark horse candidates to jump in to the FF scene. Samsung is worth keeping an eye on. As is Panasonic. Who knows, maybe even Pentax will show up?

We shall see, it's quite exciting times I think, because progress will only accelerate I think and imaging quality will only improve, so it's a good situation for us end-users.
