Series 1 lenses. Kiron made and quite heavy for it's compact length. 72mm front lens and screw mount. More to be read here.....

This Series I lens provides a wide angle to short telephoto capability in a lens only 3.6 inches long that weighs only 26 ounces. Like its cousins, this Series I lens features a short ten inch close focus range providing a 1:3.5 reproduction ratio. What is more important is that the lens is very sharp throughout this range, with excellent contrast too (thanks to VMC multi-coating). Again, the lens is large in diameter, requiring a 72mm filter, but providing a reasonably fast f/2.8 constant aperture throughout its range.

And here.....

How do you like yours? I've got one in Nikon (non-Ai) mount, and it never gets used; when I need a zoom, I always reach for a slightly slower but sharper/more contrasty Vario Sonnar 28-85/3.3-4. My experience with this Vivitar is it's great from about 50mm onwards, but a bit soft wide open at the wide end. Good coatings though, and a very nice portrait lens at 85mm. The Zeiss is sharp all over the zoom range, but its wide end is sharper.

I had it too I did like it's output above 50mm I wasn't too happy below 50mm performance.

Hi Big Dawg, I bought one last week in OM mount. I am waiting for the adapter to try it. Thanks for the links...

I have it in Nikon AI mount...Nice lens, but doesn't get used much as I also have other lenses with a bit greater range of focal lengths @ the same speed...You do need a hood for this one...

I have it in FD mount and use it sometimes with the Pana G1.
