well i very recently received my new (used) canon 5d and i happily took my zeiss pancolar 50mm and my mir 35mm on our christmas family visits. the indoor shots were shot at iso 800 or faster, all very close to wide open. i am so happy with this camera i cant say. in terms of focusing, high iso and general functionality it is such an improvement over my sigma sd14. and the IQ is very pleasing to me. as always, critiques welcome and PLEASE CLICK ON EACH PHOTO FOR BEST CONTRAST AND RESOLUTION.

BTW, outdoor shot shows fog, not lack of focus!

Seems indeed to be a good camera combined with some fine lenses.
All high quality shots.
Which are Pancolar shots and which are MIR?
I think it's always difficult to get good indoor shots. The backgrounds always tend to get messy. You succeded to get the background well out of focus.

thanks guys! really appreciate the comments.
sven, 1,2&5 are pancolar; 3&4 mir. i will post my personal sense of comparison between 5d and sd14 in a separate thread some time soon, but at least as a piece of hardware the 5d wins hands down; in low light at high iso the 5d wins hands down. on bright sunny day, well....

specially at high ISO the difference must be stricking. do you remember the ISO of the indoor shots?
great to know that you are very happy with your new camera Tony,
and how very sweet kids in your family!

thank you both so much! yes, they are my nieces and nephew, thankfully they did not inherit my looks!Laughing

the first 2 were shot at 1250 and the last 2 at 800 iso.

yes, the difference at high iso is amazing--even at 1600 i get great definition and i wouldnt hesitate to use 1600 at all.
