Good day,
I'm looking wide lens (21-28mm) M42 mount for my Fuji X, need your input which lens for this purpose.
My budget not more than $200.

Super Multi Coated Takumar 28/3.5
I'm not sure how much a Fuji EBC 28 is, but it should be good.
Sigma semi wide 28

Hi Ron.

Flektogon 4/20mm
Tamron AD2 (02B) 2.8/28mm

Why not a wide zoom such as the Tamron AD2 (13A) SP 3.5-3.8/24-48mm.
It is very good.

I have bought a Nikkor Ai to Fufifilm X adapter ring and I'm very happy to use my Nikkor lenses on my X-E1.
In the wide range, I use the Nikkor 2.8/24 K

Zeiss Jena Flektogon 25mm f/4
It works fantastic on my X-Pro1. Mine is Exakta mount though..

Takumar 28's are great, and cheap (i I have a couple for sale at an interesting price, btw), and for wider the flektogon 4/20 is unbeatable among m42's, imho.
Another 28 that I really like on aps-c is the schneider edixa curtagon 4/28: it's old, so flare resistance is not up to takumar's standards, but it has a lovely character and with very rich colors (even if with a coolish tone).
Finally, the auto mamiya sekor sx 2.8/28 (also seen as Rolleinar in qbm mount) is really great: not really common, not easy to adapt, but really great, except for the extreme corners, but that's not an issue on aps-c

If you are patient you can pick up a RE Auto Topcor 25mm 3.5. exakta/Topcon mount. You won`t be disappointed,I`ve seen two go lately for around the $200 mark and that`s well worth the price IMO.

Let's assume you mean a real focal lenght (of the lens) of 21 to 28mm and not an effective one at the Fuji, because that would mean, you need to look for a 14 to 19mm lens.

There are several very good and still affordable lenses around, esp. with 28mm.

One of my favourites is the Pentax-M 2.8/28. Ever so compact and still very good - just not with an M42-thread.

You could also look for a Tamron 2.5/24 or 2.5/28 and add an M42-rear part to it. Very nice lenses.

If you need a 14mm lens, try to find a used Samyang 2.8/14. With a little bit of luck, it meets you budget.

Wowwww ,appricate for your respon ....so much alternatives..Smile
Yes, I'm looking 21-28mm on the lens, mean around 30-40mm on Fuji X.

Curently I'm using Fuji X 35/1.4, little bit too tight for streetphoto.

Can you share the result picture from Takumar 28/3.5(?),Zeiss Jena Flektogon 25mm f/4,RE Auto Topcor 25mm 3.5. exakta,Pentax-M 2.8/28?
I believe it will be usefull for people who are looking wide lens like me.

Note:
You can PM me if you have lens for sell..Smile

regards

here are my samples taken with an S-M-C Takumar 3.5/28: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/sets/72157605173945492/
it's a very nice performer, later successor Pentax A 2.8/28 is even better and should be available for less than 200 usd, so is the big and heavy but outstanding Pentax K 3.5/28. imo all metioned are better than Pentax M 2.8/28 which still is a good lens though.
Also consider S-M-C Takumar 3.5/24 resp. Pentax K 2.8/24mm, both good and reliable performers, with a bit of patience you may be able to find either for your price.
For small physical size requiring a small adapter only look out for Pen-F f4/25 and Skopar 4/25, but both, specially last one will prove difficult to be found for less than 200 usd

there are also sets of photos I have taken with the Pentax A 2.8/28, the two 24mm and 25mm lenses mentioned at my personal flickr page, better even you search flickr for photos taken by anyone with a particular lens, results also will show photos 'of' the lens though, e.g search result for
Takumar 3.5 28mm: https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=takumar%203.5%2028mm
Flektogon 4/25: https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=Flektogon+25mm+f4
Topcor 3.5/25: https://www.flickr.com/search?sort=relevance&text=Topcor%2025mm%203.5
Pentax M 2.8/28: https://www.flickr.com/search?sort=relevance&text=Pentax%20M%202.8%2028

later edit: oops, you were looking for M42 specifically. mentioned Topcor, Pentax K, M and A, the Pen-F and Skopar all are not M42

Actually is not.. Canon APS-C sensors are 1.6 crop..

Fuji X-E1, X-Pro1 and XT1 APS-C are 1.5 crop

Effectively, that's right.

What I meant is that it is an APS-C sensor, not a full-frame, so very close to the E-X1 when speaking about the size.

Olympus Pen F 20mm f/3.5is a half-frame lens, what's that?
Is there any problem on APSc camera like Fuji with that lens?

Btw ,I got a clean Nikkor 28/2.8 Ais...yes it is not M42 lens, so I need to buy adapter Nikkor F to X.

APS-C is smaller than 35mm halfframe, no problem on Fuji-X and the required adapter is very short, much shorter than for any SLR lens, has similar size as Leica M and LTM adapters.
see e.g my thread with sample photos taken on Sony NEX5N and Ricoh GXR M, both have same sized sensor as Fuji X: http://forum.mflenses.com/g-zuiko-auto-w-20mm-f3-5-pen-f-halfframe-lens-t51076.html

if you can stretch out the budget a bit more, how about a Nikkor 20mm/2.8? at least it's 1mm wider and faster. Best lens for extreme macro too if you reverse it and use bellows on it. Very Happy

How about a Voigtlander 15mm f4.5? Lovely little lens giving 21.5mm view and zone focus point and shoot freedom. Not too expensive either but certainly not cheap. It does get some very good write ups.
