Hi folks
Anyone got any idea who made this and what IQ might be like?

Fujita made in the late 50's. Realitively rare compared to the 3.5 version. Luis has one. There are test pics on the forum. I have one under the Fujitar name. _________________

Cheers Walter, looks like a pretty mediocre performer at best, sadly. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Actually I have no less than four of these now, one Fujita M42, and three other brands with styling like your Polygon - and one of them IS an N.K.K. Polygon just like yours ! I am running a roll with it on an Exakta now.
I suspect that whoever N.K.K. was took over from Fujita somehow, probably sometime in 1959 or so as the Fujita brand seems to have disappeared then. Maybe N.K.K. was Nishida as Walter says.
Generally these are pretty poor overall, though good enough stopped down. Don't go by my B&W test shots, they're awful in ways that I can't blame on the lens. You should be able to do better.
They are a very early retrofocus design. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Thanks for the info Luis, I doubt i could do better than you with it! I don't own it, I just saw it for sale. I guess I'll stump up the cash for a 35mm Flektogon instead, as much as I like old unusual Japanese lenses I do prefer a higher level of IQ than this lens provides, sadly. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

I have it in Asahiflex mount (Fujitar). This was the only wideangle for that camera available back then. _________________ My flickr Gallery

Yes, I had one of these in Fujita brand in Asahiflex mount also. I sold it a couple of years ago.
Its an essential item for Asahiflex collectors. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |
