Your Welcome. I agree a very interesting lens.
Most likely all the Auto and Auto E lenses would of been made by Tokina.
The Auto EC lenses were made by Sun Optical. _________________

The 50/1.4 is such a different design with eight elements (?)
If made by Tokina, I wonder why it doesn't appear elsewhere under different branding.
What is the Kowa connection to Miranda

Because they were most likely using their own lens designers, or lens designers from Soligor.
The Kowa connection was the early Soligor Miranda lenses, like the 5.8cm f1.5 you asked about. There was also a 3.5cm 2.8, and 5cm 1.9.
I'm not sure if the 8.5cm 1.8 was Kowa made or not.
I don't have a complete list, so I'm not sure how many different lenses were made. _________________

Yup, besides we need more people shooting Miranda glass on this forum. It seems to be a very small group of us. _________________

I think that they are available commercially.
I think Vivaldibow has ordered one from somewhere.
I made mine.
I was given a Miranda Sensorex camera and a box of bits and pieces.
In the box was a Miranda mount which may have attached to a bellows at some stage.
Anyway, with that as a starting point and a badly made M39 to Fuji FX adapter, I tried some trial and error registration on the Fuji.
The addition of an old T mount was just the right length.
These three are simply epoxied together.
It looks like a dog's breakfast, but it works.
Here are some pix.

Yes they are indeed, e. g. from fotodiox (i got their Mamiya E => Sony E adapter some month ago; very well made!). I may - or may not - get one of those for my small collection of Miranda lenses (two different 2.8/28, the 1.4/50 [8/6], the 2.8/105 and a 2.8/135).
Thank you for the images!

My 50mm f/1.4 Auto Miranda (not E or EC) has a 46mm filter thread and the rear element is flat (completely flat to my eyes). It came from a Sensorex C camera. From Sensorex C's user manual, the last element of this 8/6 lens has a slight curvature, while the 7/5 50mm f/1.4 lens's rear element is flat. I am confused. It could be because the slight curvature is almost flat to my eyes. |

Yes, it can be deceptive.
If you really want to see if it is flat, hold a piece of paper on its edge across it and up against the light. Any curvature will show at the ends.
And, my eyes may have been seeing flatness where there was slight curvature. so perhaps my eyes are the problem
