Thanks, but I use this lens on a NEX, so no conversion needed, just the appropriate adapter. I do have a polirizer somewhere from the old days. _________________ Regards,

Had an urge to use this lens today. Maybe I was feeling nostalgic; I've had this lens over 40 years. Light wasn't the best.
Warren came back to port with only a 13 seagull escort, indicating a bad outing.

Beautiful shots. That's Charleston? I have worked there a few times and it's a lovely city. The 50/1.4 does it up nicely. I like the macro type shot of the plant. Did you use a tube or close up lens? _________________ ________________________________________________________

Thank you. This was at Botany Bay Plantation on the northern end of Edisto Island, about an hour from Charleston.. The sago palm sprouting new leaves was taken at minimum focus distance at f/1.4, then cropped for a tighter composition. _________________ Regards,

With the MCX 50/1,4, i had a contradictory experience.
Very sharp and very good colors by one side.
And for the other side, a strong CA with my old sony nex 3 and 5N.
The same with the MCX 58/1,2.
Both have older coating . Not good in high light, for my taste.
The lens in minolta brand seems to be the MDIII 50/1,4 |

I have not noticed much CA. But I am interested to know if sensible improvements would derive from MD III or late MD II 50 1,4 with 7 lenses in 6 groups.
Interested to know if any of those can beat MD III 50 2,0. _________________ Lumens Pixel

I have many of these 50mm MD lenses and from my direct comparisons I would rate the latest 50/1.4 lens with 49mm filter thread and 7/6 enhanced Ultron design as the very best, particularly in terms of contrast it beats the older versions.
The MD III 50/2.0 isn't able to beat this lens at same aperture, it just has a little bit lesser distortion, that's all. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

I've had MD-III 50/1.4, MD-III 50/2 and MC Rokkor-PG 50/1.4 and agree with the quoted statements.
Still have 50/2 because it's weird. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/curry-hexagon/ |
