There are two different optical designs of the Minolta 2.5/100mm (see http://artaphot.ch/minolta-sr/objektive/165-minolta-100mm-f25 for lens sections):

1) the [6/5] design, produced as MC-I, MC-II, and MC-X
2) the slightly smaller [5/5] design, produced as MC-X, MD-I/-II, and MD-III

I found the later, smaller 5/5 version to be better than the 6/5 version:
