Thank you for that summary!
Minolta MD-III 2/50mm (I think you are talking about that one...)

Yes that is the tested version. And from my experience it is the best from my f2 50mm Minoltas.
MC Rokkor f2 50mm
MD Rokkor f2 50mm
and the tested MD f2 50mm.

Today I made a walk to the valley of the last test. So I took the chance to test some other lenses on my
Sony A7RIVA with its 60MP Sensor:
Minolta AF 1.4 50mm with LAEA5 Adapter.
Canon EF 1.4 50mm USM with MC11 Adapter.
And simply for comparisons sake with some more modern lenses:
Sony FE 24-105mm f4
and the tiny
Sony FE 28-60mm Kit lens
I again copied the out of cam jpg files (including EXIF) for the f5.6 and f8 to this location:
http://wuw2.ddns.net/mflensesPics/
I strongly recommend to download the files you are interrested in to your local disk and make the comparison with
your prefered Viewer (Irfanview in my case) because different Browsers really show the files in different resolution.
I hope its valueable for some people out there.

Many thanks visualopsins for the reminder.
I have now also copied the f1.4, f2, f2.8 and f4 versions for the primes Minolta AF 1.4 50mm and Canon EF 1.4 50mm USM.
And let me add a little remark: I got the Minolta as a Kitlens together with my beloved Minolta 9000 body in the 1980ies. This lens is optical the same (delivers exactly the same results) as my late Minolta MD 1.4 50mm.
I am in love with this since day one and even on the demanding 60MP sensor it simply delivers.
A surprise IMHO is the Sony FE28-60mm which at f8 also shows a really good result.

I have 3 "50mm" Minoltas.
The one I use the most is the MD III 50mm F2. It's in mint condition and I simply love the IQ of this lens on the Sony A7 III. It's inexpensive and very lightweight and even wide open it's good enough for me.
The second one is a PG 50mm F1.4 Rokkor. A bit wider, much heavier and very sharp.
The third one is the PG 58mm F1.2. This is one I use much less than the others. It's very heavy and has too much astigmatism and coma from F1.2 to F2. I'm not a big fan of this focal length neither a bokeh aficionado, for this I would use the MC 135mm F2.8. |

I own all the lenses you mentioned too, but prefer the AF Version with the LA-EA5 today. The AF with this old AF lenses is so spot on - it is unbelievable. I have learned how important fast and reliable focus is for imaging. Have fun with your stuff, may be I find some time to take my Rokkors out again.
