Minolta camera meter question

I was just given a Minolta SRT 201 the other day along with a 50mm F1.7 Rokkor MC. I originally started shooting with SLR's with an SRT 101 back in the early 70's (same camera except for the 201 having a hot shoe & no mirror lock up). I'll need to replace the light seals & mirror damper foam, which is no problem, but the meter is not responding. No corrosion in the battery chamber, so it can't be due to corrosion. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to begin to look to fix it? Are there any known problem areas? The shutter ,film advance and all other functions seem to be working fine. At worst, I can still use it with a hand held meter. ...Now I have two cameras to replace seals on as I was given a Pentax ME Super with a 50mm F2 lens recently as well, although the meter works well on that one.

Fully aware of how the camera functions as I used to shoot with an SRT 101 which is virtually identical

I haven't worked on SRTs much but the first things I would suspect
with a dead meter is -

- a broken connection just below (well, just above in this case)
the battery compartment. (if so, re-solder). What often happens is
a battery is left in there and it leaks and the leakage corrodes the
solder joint that connects the power wire to the battery case and
the wire disconnects.

Or,

- dirty connections in the meter switch (if so, clean them)

You'd have to remove the bottom plate to check both (2 or 3 screws).
I believe the battery holder is removable with 2 or 3 more screws
(it's been a while since I've worked on one) to check for the
wire connection there.

If it's not one of the above then it's likely the meter itself. If so, it
would have to be replaced (from another SRT). You'd have to
pull the top cover to so that.

Note that the bottom plate must be re-attached before checking the
meter because of the switch.

Disclaimer:
Also, please note that cameras are easy to mess up when you start
disassembling them and you may make the matter worse by doing so. Very Happy
