Hi,

I just got Minolta MC 50/1.4 rokkor in excellent condition. I want to convert its mount to minolta A mount. Any suggestions? It appears to be a lot diff than minolta MC 58/1.2.

Some picture of the mount. Screws are on the side not on the top and thus not sure how to proceed with it.

I've got one of these in my 'projects' drawer to be converted to Canon EF mount. It's not impossible but this type of mount is more difficult to convert than some of the other Rokkors.

I'm sourcing a small lathe 7x14 from China to play around with this and other stuff. Current status, I've tried to sand down the rear plate (you can remove the Minolta mount) to the right specs, but it takes too darn long!

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

I have a spare M42 to Minolta A mount adapter which I originally thought that I would use to mount it. But when I saw that it has screws on the side, I dont know what to do

Maybe this helps.

I am also looking for for a "MD lens to PK" conversion.

I have seen similar conversion but in this lens mounting screws are on the side. I will open it and see how it work out.

I posted details somewhere on FM about converting this type of minolta lens to EOS. Search on Rokkor 35/1.8 conversions.

The rear silver ring with screws on the side is just a trim ring. In effect (at least on EOS conversions) it becomes the new mounting surface.

Whether this is doable or not on the A mount depends on the registration difference. on EOS it's only .5mm so it's pretty doable (but trickier than 58/1.2).

nutshell:

remove silver trim ring
remove rear mount with apeture linkage
remove extra parts in aperture linkage and re-rig with spring
remove orig. mount bayonet (screwed in from behind), machine down and mount it inside new mount bayonet (EOS in my case).
re-use orig. bayonet screws to hold new and old bayonet (epoxied together) back onto orig mount base, which has been reduced .5mm (or more).
reduce trim ring to match mount base and re-attach with radial screws.
