Nikkor 55/3.5 Ai stopped down to f/5.6 gives same center but better edge/corner sharpness than Nikkor 55/2.8 Ai-S. Turn the table: For shooting at f/2.8 to f/4, the 55/2.8 Ai-S holds a clear advantage in edge/corner detail. This is 1st hand user experience on full-frame with serviced copies of the lens. Both are prone to drying out and requiring CLA |
