My previous post details how this was converted. I know that this lens was also available in M42, but, well, I have this one and not one of those !
This thing is a monster -
I got several questions on the street ("what the hell is that ?").
And curiously, the usually very blase seagulls, who normally are happy to sit and pose for me all day, were very nervous today, and would fly off if I came within 15 feet. I guess this thing scared them.
The glass is in fairly good condition, with a few spots and a tiny bit of fungus. It is not easy to manage this thing, and it does give your arms a workout. Well, thats good, right ?
Performance - well, this isn't anywhere as good as my Komura, but much better than my Soligor/Tokina (aka Vivitar).
Performance aside though, this thing has Presence !
Nice bokeh too -
It stops down to f/32 -
Nervous bird -
The bird - a brave one !

I've seen this lens before hanging up at Kens Photography in Sac, CA. They wanted $400 for it... What did you pay for yours? |

$400 is way too much for this.
I got this one in a batch of other Exakta lenses, all for $200. I'd say I probably paid $30-40 for it, in proportion to the value of the batch.
I have seen these Telemegors sell on ebay for $50-150, the more expensive ones probably being the later black models in M42. There's always one or two on ebay. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

This one was a M42 mount, with a little more black on the barrel. |
