Register distance is shorter than 18mm but enough for a head , flower etc.

yep, wonderful, but heavy lens on APS-C. Here some examples from mine,
velvet helicoid conversion by Henry @ Nex-6
lens need some mechanical work for infinity, my first ex met sudden death
on the lathe....

Oh wolfhansen, what did you do with that lens? Clamped the complete housing in?
But you images are very fine as always!

The short register distance is a problem for me as only EOS DSLR user at the moment, but as soon as I buy a Sony Alpha 7 this lens gets very interesting too. So it is in waiting position since two years.

This was the only possible kind of solution, because the housing was inseparably corroded.
BTW - the lens cover only the APS-C sensor.

Yesterday Guitar-Wizard Fred Frith & his Trio played in domicil jazz club, dortmund.
Frith works with musicians like John Zorn, Bill Laswell, Brian Eno, Louis Sclavis,
Peter Kowald, Sonny Sharrock or Peter Brötzmann.

Btw how do you control the light? f1.0 is pretty fast and on a bright day (I at least)
even the lowest ISO and fastest shutter speed is not enough to avoid overexposure
(I use a rear ND filter to control that then)

It is just a small filter mounted into the lens adapter, nothing special.

also i'm not sure how you all get infinite focus, since I tried 70/1 attached directly to bayonet(!) and get around 1.5 meters only, to have more I believe I need to cut some aluminium body from this lens and allow some part of lens go deeper through the bayonette of my a7.

Some new shots with this great lens - location is the Schloss Eving in Dortmund, an very nice old welfare house
from the Ruhrkohle AG. A good place for a different kind of concerts, mostly avantgarde.
In October 2015 i shot these very special show of Cinema Soloriens DYAD - drums and heavy electronics with
belgian drummer Rogier Smal and James Harrar from USA. Harrar is long time member of the Sun Ra Arkestra.
During the concert the duo show experimental b&w movies, Harrar made between 1960 and 1970.

Still this lens is kind of huge. One might consider the smaller 1.4/70, too.

I have the 1.4/70mm with the conversion for the VNEX-System,
but i like the velvet helicoid for focussing much better.

Unfortunatly the prices for a 1.0/70mm on Ebay are... Shocked
